Field Trip Friday: Miniature Art Show

The amazing Holly at 504 Main is featuring a banner project I made for Memorial Day.  Check out her blog for ideas and inspiration and a fun link party!  By the way, while the party has a sweet name "Tickled Pink" your link doesn't have to be pink or pink related.

I recently got to attend one of the biggest miniature art shows around. This juried show featured over three hundred tiny paintings sent in from all over the world.  The dimensions of each work, including the frame, couldn't be larger than 5 x 7 inches or 35 square inches.

It's hard for me to imagine creating a detailed painting (with a frame!) smaller than the size of a 5 x 7 inch photo. So much gorgeous creativity… and the gallery provided magnifying glasses (which my four year old loved).

I still have a Bee Busy Kids Bag giveaway going on until 5 pm tonight.  Check out that post for ways to win or leave me a comment.

And this one's for grown-ups… I am giving away this Eiffel Tower at one of my favorite blogs:  Chateau Des Fleurs.

  1. I am stopping by from Holly’s….I have to say you are so talented. I love each and every one of these pieces. I tell my daughters all the time that each of us is gifted with a special talent. Some can sing, some can play piano, some can paint etc…daughter #1 is a singer. She was born for it. Daughter #2 an artist. Born for it. I find myself not following my own words of wisdom when I see work like yours. Why can’t I do that??? Love it.

  2. how cool to be featured! and the tiny art show is really neat! The pic of the little girl with the maginifying glass is so cute… Lezlee

  3. I’m an artist and I do miniature paintings. I started on some mini canvas I found at a yard sale and now I’m hooked. I should think about trying to exhibit some of mine. :)
Following from Follow Me Friday. :) I hope you can visit and follow me as well!! Have a great weekend!
